In May 1936, a maid in a Tokyo hotel discovered the corpse of a 41 year old man. He had been strangled and his penis had been cut off. A week later a woman was arrested. She was carrying a bloodstained knife and a rope. Strapped to her body was a cloth containing the man's dismembered penis. The woman's name was Abé Sada. This is her story...

The film is based on the same real life events as Oshima's Empire of the Senses. It was voted one of the top ten best Japanese films of 1975.
